2017-18 REVISED School Calendar

Tuesday night at the School Board Meeting we made a few revisions to the school calendar. Two of the revisions were made because TEA shifted testing dates in June and we passed our calendar in April of last year.

One of the dates that we moved from the old calendar was May 14th. We moved it from May 14th to April 2nd. April 2nd coincides with Easter and if we do not need it as a bad weather day we will have the Monday after Easter off.

The other day that we moved was from April 13th which is a staff development day that was to be used for spring conferences and we moved that day to February 16th.

The final change that we made to the calendar was to make Graduation on Thursday, May 24th instead of Friday, May 25th. We moved graduation from Friday to Thursday in order for the band to be able to participate in all graduation activities and still be able to leave for their parade in Washington D.C.

Legislative Budget Board Review

As many of you know, Dalhart ISD went through a comprehensive school performance review last year conducted by the Legislative Budget Board. Yesterday the LBB published their official report for Dalhart ISD. If you would like to view it in its entirety you can go to this weblink:

At this link scroll down to the area that says "WHAT'S NEW" and you can access the report.

We have started the process of going through the review and will begin a systematic evaluation of their recommendations in order to make Dalhart ISD a better and more productive school system. When we have had time to review and prioritize the report, we will set up opportunities to allow for public comments.

Once we have looked at the overview, we will start having meetings with the stakeholders in the respective areas to make plans on implementing the recommendations. This will be an ongoing activity and we will continue this process until we have exhausted all of our resources in order to take full advantage of this review. I look at this as an opportunity to make our school a better place for our students.
