Parent Involvement / Title 1

Statement of Purpose:

The mission of Dalhart ISD is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become life-long learners.  This mission is not possible without the collaboration with parents and families.  Dalhart ISD will involve parents in all aspects of their students learning.

Title I

Dalhart ISD is considered school-wide Title I (this means that more that 40% of our students are eligible for the free and/or reduced lunch program) The school-wide eligibility entitles all students to the benefits of Title I. Title I is a federal grant that awards the district funding to improve our school district. Title I requires that:

  • Schools provide communication in the language spoken at home to the extent practicable
  • Parents be involved in the Comprehensive Needs Assessment for the district (DEIC)
  • Parents be involved in decision making and evaluation of the Title I program
  • DISD has a written Parent Involvement Policy available to all parents

Parents of students attending any Dalhart schools have the right to know the professional qualifications of the teachers in their child's classroom(s).  Use the link below to search:

In addition to qualifications, parents also have the right to request the following:

  • A teacher's state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grades and subject he/she teaches
  • The status of the teacher's certificate
  • The qualifications of paraprofessionals serving your student

Dalhart ISD will provide parents with the following:

The Title I program is designed to build parent and community engagement and ultimately increase student achievement.  Dalhart ISD has many strategies for increasing family engagement:

  • Parent Involvement Policy
  • Home-School Compact
  • Newsletters
  • Websites (translates into many languages)
  • Progress Reports
  • Report Cards
  • Parent Conferences at Elementary and Intermediate
  • Parent Nights
  • Title I Parent Meetings

Home-School Compact

Each campus will develop a Home-School Compact to communicate roles and responsibilities of students, teachers and families.  This compact will be reviewed and updated annually. These compacts will encourage collaboration between school and home.  Copies of the Home-School Compact are found online and at the campus.  Compacts can be translated as needed.

Parental Involvement Opportunities

Dalhart ISD encourages parent and family involvement and offers many opportunities for collaboration in the student's learning, development and achievement.  Below is a list of a few of the strategies for involvement:

  • Title I meetings
  • Parent Teacher Conferences
  • District Site Based Committee (DEIC)
