Lone Finalist

he Dalhart ISD Board of Trustees named Mr. Jeff Byrd as the lone finalist for the next superintendent of schools during the Board's June 2nd meeting.
Mr. Byrd is the current superintendent of Vernon ISD, having served in this position for the past five and a half years. His previous superintendent experience includes Claude ISD and Gorman ISD. He recently completed his 12th year as an acting superintendent.
Following graduation from Eastland High School in 1989, Mr. Byrd attended and earned a BS degree from Tarleton State University in 1993. In 2009, he received his MS degree from West Texas A & M University. He fulfilled the requirements for superintendent certification through Region XIV in Abilene in 2010. In 2014, Mr. Byrd completed Lamar University’s Superintendent Academy.
He married his wife Marlo in 1995, and they have three children: Austin, 23 (a student at Texas Tech's School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo), Rees, 21 (a recent graduate of WTAMU), and Jake, 15 (who will be a freshman at Dalhart High School this fall). The Byrds are not strangers to the Panhandle; they have worked at Dumas ISD (4 years), Amarillo ISD (9 years), and Claude ISD (4 years).
Mr. Byrd stated, "Marlo, Jake, and I are humbled by the opportunity the DISD board of Trustees has afforded us." We look forward to becoming members of the Dalhart community and serving the students of Dalhart ISD.
