Windows on a Wider World (WOWW) sponsored two in-school field trips for students at DIS this week. On April 12, members of the Amarillo Bulls Hockey Team visited our 3rd graders about good health and exercise practices. The players discussed the importance of eating healthy foods, getting plenty of rest, and exercise. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about playing hockey, and some students were chosen to test their hockey skills against the Bulls.
On April 13th, Mr. Will - Austin, TX Kid's Music came to perform for our 5th-grade students. He talked about music and playing instruments. He demonstrated how to play several instruments, including the guitar, bass, and drums.
DIS students and faculty are glad to sponsor WOWW programs for students on and off-campus during the school year.
Mrs. Heiskell, Mrs. Shaffer, and Mrs. Thompson served staff breakfast on Friday morning, April 9, celebrating our staff with pancakes, sausage, and fruit.
DIS GT students, who have been studying Italy and Italian cuisine (pizza specifically), visited Mrs. Stephanie Ellis's Culinary Arts class on February 3. Sporting aprons and chef hats provided by Dalhart High School, students learned to roll dough and make their own pizza. Mrs. Diane Thompson, DIS GT Coordinator, and Mrs. Misty Heiskell, Principal, chaperoned.
